Blink 182 Summer Tour 2009

The summer of 2009 was a musical crossroad that for me converged at the Marcus Amphitheater in Milwaukee. My friend Molly suggested we get tickets to see the newly reformed Blink 182, along with Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco and Chester French.

We got our tickets and road-tripped over to the Summerfest grounds and settled in. Our seats weren't bad, but the fact that I was working with 2009 levels of technology my photos weren't great, but I really wanna look back at that awesome night.

After Chester French opened (they were fine, but we were still getting our seats as they were playing), Panic took the stage. This was the first show that I saw them at since the infamous split, happening not even a month before. Dallon Weekes and Ian Crawford had just joined as a touring members. Even though the change in line up was so new, it was still an awesome show, the second time we had seen the band live.

Fall Out Boy

This was the first time I had seen Fall Out Boy live. Back in 2007, I had a roommate who made me a little... fatigued for lack of a better word, with Fall Out Boy (Infinity on High will forever been ingrained in my memory and I had to change my major because I retained nothing from that semester). But this show totally won me back over, it was an amazing performance, despite the band was suffering from their own fatigue. What ultimately became their hiatus was announced months later.

Blink 182 may have been the headliner, but I'd be lying if I said that's why we were there. But like any good millennials who had grown up on TRL, and seeing their antics in their music videos, we were excited to see them live. As I said earlier, it was the first tour since they reunited, and while I did really like Angels and Airwaves (still do, Rebel Girl is an awesome track), it was a cool experience to say we were there, and obviously one I haven't forgotten after 10 years.
